When I think of CSR there are many different ways in which I see a
company caring for those around them, especially their stakeholders and
employees. Having a great CSR is not
always an easy task and can often be very difficult to comprehend or accomplish
if it has not already been established.
This can also be difficult for government organizations where rules and
regulations restrict freedom of maneuver, and are often tied down by policies.
To give you a better understanding of what CSR is we will provide an
example of a company who has excelled in corporate social responsibility.
One company that
has excelled in corporate social responsibility is none other than the Walt Disney Company. For many years now Walt Disney World and the
company as a whole has received great honors for the ways in which it gives
back to not only its employees but the community, and the world as a
whole. Year after year Walt Disney
continues to inspire people around the world to make a difference whether big
or small. Recently Disney had received
an award within the citizenship category of a CSR ranking for its philanthropic
and environmental efforts.
One of Disney’s
main focuses is volunteer work and the ways it can give back to the
community. Along with this Disney has
become the largest media and entertainment corporations in the world. With that being said Disney’s constant “Imagineering”
plays an enormous role in the way it gives back to those who have helped the company
become what it is today. Besides its
volunteer work, Disney continues to strive for a cleaner, greener environment,
as well as care for the less fortunate, and support of families and soldiers
who have served our nation. Along with
these contributions it continues to support higher education, and local
economies as well. Despite all the great
things Disney has done for the community, its employees, and the world they
believe that as long as there is imagination left in the world, there will
always be improvement and work to be done.
